This policy which encompasses the company's philosophy towards corporate social responsibility and lays down the guidelines and mechanism for undertaking socially relevantprograms for welfare and sustainable development of the community at large and complying with all the local regulations in that regard, is titled as the 'CSR Policy for  APM Terminals India Pvt. Ltd.'


1. Company's CSR philosophy

APM Terminals India Pvt. Ltd. seeks active community involvement in every location in which we operate.Proactive participation in the health, safety and education opportunities of local communities in which we live and work is an essential part of our core company values and a guiding factor in the way we do business around the world. These principles are integrated into our global 'Key Performance' structure and every terminal and office dedicates resources and manpower towards specific community projects in pursuit of these goals.

2. CSR Vision and Mission

We are present to the fact that APM Terminals Inland Services, South Asia holds the capability, potential and responsibility towards the society it operates in, to deliver initiatives and actions that create a strong impact on these communities. At APM Terminals Inland Services, we consider ourselves ONE with the community and understand and believe in the promise of our contribution in managing our social, environmental and economic impact.
Our initiatives are a result of our study of the community we operate in and its current state of affairs. Thus, apart from advancing energy efficiency initiatives to manage environmental risks, we have undertaken multiple and varied social impact programs across locations depending on the need of the hour. Our efforts are focused on initiating projects that are sustainable and will deliver a lasting impact.
We are committed to building sustainable strategies to continuously transform the lives of communities within our ecosystem by nourishing relationships with key stakeholders, fostering leadership among employees and forging greater engagement in impact-driven programs, thereby building a sound organization with a reputation of an entity invested in the betterment of social and environmental causes.

3. Stakeholders

The employees, customers, shareholders, truck drivers and the local communities, in which the company has its business footprint, are all key stakeholders of the company. Contributing positively to these stakeholders and improving their quality of life will be essential elements of APMT-IS's CSR efforts.

4. Governance structure

The company has put in place the following governance structure to ensure that CSR policyis implemented and monitored effectively. The roles and responsibilities are defined at each governance level.

The CSR Committee of the Board of Directors would comprise of the following members:

  • Managing Director
  • CFO
  • Director - Corporate Affairs

The CSR implementation team will be led by the Indian head of HR. The HR Head will be responsible for overseeingthe CSR programs and the IR managers will monitor and implement the CSR programs at their respective plant locations. IR managers will be reporting to the HR Head. The IR managers may undertake local CSR activities corresponding to the CSR causes which have been laid down in Section 5 of this policy document but an approval is a must for any CSR activity with a budget of more than INR 50,000.

5. CSR causes

APM Terminals India Pvt. Ltd. undertook a detailed stakeholder engagement to understand the CSR needs of its stakeholders including the local communities. Based on this, the company has decided to support the following CSR causes as part of its CSR policy:

  • Health and hygiene – Swasthya
  • Livelihood enhancement – Swabhimaan
  • Safety – Surakshit
  • Environment – Srishti
  • Community development – Sudhar

In addition to the above, Education, as an addendum to the Community Development, is also one of the core CSR causes of APMTerminals Inland Services.
The actual CSR programs conducted under these broad cause areas will be aligned to the activities listed in Schedule VII of the Companies Act 2013.

6. Modalities of execution

The CSR programs will be implemented by the company with support from project management consultants and vendors of different products/services, as may be required. While availing products/services of consultants or any other vendors, the company will seek proposals from at least three organizations and will then make a final decision based on criteria which are critical to the success of that particular CSR program. The company may also engage consultants to help build capacity for undertaking CSR programs but will limit this to 5% of total spending, as mentioned in the CSR Rulesunder the Companies Act 2013.

7. Monitoring mechanism

The CSR Committee would meet once every quarter to monitor the progress of CSR programs, CSR spending and review if any changes are required. During the half yearly meeting, the Committee would also review the CSR policy to discuss if any changes are required in the policy itself. However, it may also meet at an early period in case of making changes to any particular program or for review of CSR policy.
At each plant location, the CSR programs will be implemented and monitored by the respective IR manager. The IR managers will maintain their own monitoring schedule, as appropriate, to collect the required inputs from vendors, implementation partners and beneficiaries to ensure effective implementation. They would be sending quarterly reports to the India Head of HR who will present the same during CSR Committee's quarterly meetings. The company will be communicating its CSR efforts to all its employees and external stakeholders through emails, its own website and other appropriate dissemination channels.
The company may undertake third-party assessments, as and when needed, in order to evaluate the social impact of its CSR programs on the communities. This will also help the company to obtain learnings that can help improve the program to enhance its efficiency and provide for scalability.

8. Exclusions

The company will not contribute any amount directly or indirectly to any political party or religious organization as part of its CSR activities.

9. Conclusion

APM Terminals India Pvt. Ltd. is committed to undertake implementation of the proposed CSR programs in order to bring meaningful and sustainable change to the local communities in which it operates. The company will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that it contributes to society which is an integral stakeholder.
